We had to get up early in the morning (like 5 - yeah, some kind of vacation this turned out to be...) to get ahead of the market people occupying the exit from the parking. We were going by car to a national park with some extraordinary waterfalls.

The drive to the Plitvice national park took some time and took us by the highway trough some tunnels and trough sparsely populated areas before we eventually found it. It was off season so the price was half of what we expected, but the reason later became clear since only like 1/3 of the areas were accessible. The other parts were closed off and had not opened yet. Parking was free (until 1/4 I think they said).

Isak were mostly snoring in the carrier while we walked around. In the beginning there is a boat taking you to the first "station" (or a  bus, depending on which way you go). From there you can go either at the foot of the waterfalls (along bridges) or on a trail winding the top of a nearby cliff. The latter gives a fantastic view of curse, but the first option would have passed us right in front of some waterfalls. Anyway, that path was closed (opening tomorrow - yay...).

We could have walked back to where we took the boat, or taken a bus back, but we decided to go back to where we got off the boat. We had some sandwiches there that we brought (since we didn't know if there were food to buy), but fyi there are quite inexpensive dishes available like hamburgers, beer and sandwiches. The park has like 1500 visitors per day in the summer. While we were there most tourists were Chinese (of course) but considering that the park was not fully open it was not heavily crowded.
