Wednesday. Today I had to go to the hospital again. As I was hospitalized on my last visit I'm getting used to Sri Lankan hospitals now...

...but this time it was for a "Full Body Checkup". Not because I was sick (at least not to my knowledge yet...).

The full body checkup at Durdans hospital is available in four varities:

  • Basic (for young people: Some blood tests and ECG): ~ 360 SEK
  • Regular (also include Echocardiogram and ultrasonic scan of Abdomen and pelvis): ~ 900 SEK
  • Executive (as regular + Liver profile + Lung function + Renal and Thyriod test): ~ 1500 SEK
  • Platinum (as executive + TMT stress test + Eye assessment): ~  2000 SEK

I had the Executive test and added the TMT stress test and dental clean up, since I already had been checking my eyes earlier when I bought glasses at Vision Care. Dental cleaning, polish and consultation costs about 320 SEK extra.

I'm not really sure if you can do this in Sweden at all, but anyway the cost I wrote above is for men (slightly higher for women) and does not include tax.

First they tapped me of some blood, then they took ECG, X-rayed, Ultrasonic test of Abdomen (includes some sticky goo they smear on the chest), Ultrasonic test of heart (that goo again), ECG during stress test (walk fast on a treadmill) and finally the lung test (breathe in and out trough a machine).

We spent the first part af the day at the hospital, running around between the different tests. After about 13:00 we went for lunch. I had not eaten anything (you can only drink water after 12h before the tests starts at 8:00) so I was fairly hungry and so was Mihiri.

The fun thing is that you can download your test/lab results as pdf:s as they are done, so later in the evening I could go trough them all to see if I was going to die some time soon.

Lunch

We went to a place called "The sizzle". They serve food on metal plates, carried on slabs of wood, and the dishes sizzle when you get them. Mihiri had fish and rice and I had chicken and rice and sauces and sallad and some potatoe slices) etc. To drink we had Ginger beer and Lemon Ice tea (we also ordered a bottle of water to go).

  • Ambience: Good
  • Price: Ok
  • Service: Good
  • Seating: Table for two along a wall

 Overall: Recommended

About the prices: the Lemon Ice tea was about 11 SEK. My dish was the most expensive of ours and cost about 75 SEK.
