We arrived to "Ella nature view" B&B by train from Peradeniya (6km from Kandy) + tuktuk yesterday.

  • Drinks: beware that they are made with essences and very hastily made.
Do order a Mojito. Then you will appreciate it more when you get it at some other place, because the one they serve on the boat is simply horrible.
  • Coffee: the only fairly decent one is a Cappuccino. The other ones taste a bit of ash tray.
  • To bring: Everybody (except us) was having their own selfie-stick. We felt a bit as outsiders, not having one. It was clearly the thing to have on the boat. At a bus one guy poked me in the ear with a selfie stick (he was talking on the phone with the stick attached).
  • Italians: You are not allowed to kick the small rude Italians.
  • Photographers: The boat has their own photograph(ers) dragging you in front of a screen and posing for them. Next day you can buy the photographs. So dress smartly, because others will browse trough the photos and see you...

In the morning we were thinking about taking a shuttle bus arranged by the cruise company, but since they had a habit of overcharging we first left the boat set on walking to le Vieux Port (the old harbor) or, at least, the closest bus stop.
The closest bus stop was like 1km away so we went back on the boat, bought tickets and got back out. At the bus they informed us that the tickets we had were blanks, but they let us on anyway (the machine we bought it from were out of ink or whetever).

The time was 7.30 in the morning and I looked out of the window and - aha! - the Jacuzzi was empty! Now was the time to hurry down and try it out before it got filled up with fat Germans and these small but noisy chain-smoking Italians! We hurried down the stairs and jumped into the shower beside it (jumping out as quickly because the water was cold). After like 30s in the Jacuzzi we got bored and went for breakfast instead. Mihiri had surprisingly not planned this day by the minute, so we could eat breakfast without breaking any schedule.

The bus trips are always interesting in these southern countries. I suppose they never get snow this far south so they cram as many tourists in the bus as they can and take of at amazing speed. The speed is kind of digital. Full speed ahead (hold on with both hands) or stop hard with as many falling and swearing tourists as possible.
